French violin labelled Carrodus dated 1892
This lovely antique full-size French violin is labelled "The Carrodus Violin 1892 No. E98". These violins were imported from France by Haynes & Co, London.
It is in excellent condition with no damage or restorations, practically mint. Just a few minor surface scratches to varnish.
It has a good looking two-piece flamed maple back and matching ribs. Neat workmanship. Lovely golden/amber varnish, original throughout.
Excellent tone for a violin in this price range, easy response across all strings.
It has been set-up with rosewood & ebony fittings, a bridge stamped "D E Way Plymouth", Pirastro Tonica strings with a Goldbrokat E string.
Length of back 360mm.
This is a great sounding instrument suitable for a college/academy student or discerning amateur.
